History

Brothers Tony and Lojz (Louie) Pockar immigrated to Calgary from the former Yugoslavia in the early 1950's with no money and no English. Both worked as farm and construction labourers before purchasing tools & declaring themselves "bricklayers" in 1955.
Their first project was St Mary's Church, Beiseker, AB which still stands today! Brothers Mirko and Emil immigrated in the early 1960s, joining Tony and Lojz in the business. Over the years, the brothers were involved in many design-build and development projects with their "crown jewel" being Pockar Park, a 12 building industrial park in NE Calgary. Tragically, Tony passed away in a drowning accident in 1975. Lojz passed away from Parkinson's Disease in Oct 2003 with Emil passing away suddenly just 5 weeks later of a heart attack while vacationing in Mexico.
Today, Serena and Malcolm Holbrook, Lojz's daughter and son in law, manage the Pockar operations. As a company in it's second generation, Pockar is grateful for the dedication and hard work of their entire field and office staff with the support of their clients and suppliers, and look foward to many more years of success in the future!
